Basics of Brioche

Learn the basics of Brioche knitting, which gives a reversible and super-squishy fabric. Introduction to the main brioche stitches, how to work one-colour brioche (flat and in the round), two-colour brioche (flat and in the round) and tips for casting on and binding-off. You will be provided with basic instructions to make a one (or two) colour brioche cowl, in the round or flat (and then seamed).
Yarn (I would recommend sport/DK weight – worsted weight) in one or two colours (if you want to attempt two-colour brioche) and needles in a size or two SMALLER than those recommended for the yarn, as brioche tends to be a loose fabric. If using fingering weight yarn, and desiring a more open fabric, I recommend 3-3.5 mm needles. To work one-colour brioche flat you need straight (or circular) needles, BUT to work two-colour brioche flat you need CIRCULAR needles. For working in the round, with either technique, whatever your preferred methods for working in the round are fine. Tapestry needle for sewn bind off.
